How to Choose the Right Sunglasses

There is no denying the association between The Matrix movies and trendy sunglasses, but did you know that every pair of these fabulous shades worn by the lead actors in the movie franchise is different? In fact, every single pair was custom crafted by Richard Walker, designer at Blinde Design Project. Fortunately for us mere mortals, there is no need for custom crafted sunglasses to look cool and trendy. Manufacturers like Olympic Eyewear are selling wholesale sunglasses in bulk to suppliers around the U.S., from which you can purchase the perfect pair to suit any occasion.

How to Pick the Perfect Sunglasses for You

Obviously, the ‘perfect sunglasses’ will be different for everyone and what one person finds appealing may not be to another’s taste. But when looking for shades for a specific occasion or event, there are a few things to keep in mind.

One thing to remember is that just because you have seen your favorite celeb rocking a massive pair of designer sunglasses, there is no guarantee that the same style will suit you. The important thing to consider when buying shades is whether they are going to suit your face or not.

What is Your Face Shape?

The four main face shapes are heart, square, round, and oval, and you will need to determine which shape your face is before choosing the right sunglasses. Those with a heart-shaped face will have a forehead that is wider than their jaw, whereas a square-shaped face encompasses a broad jawline. As you can probably imagine then, a round face is circular while an oval shaped face is longer than it is wide.

If you are struggling to determine your face shape from looking in the mirror, you can measure various points to help. Write down the measurements from the top of your forehead to your chin, from one side of your forehead to the other, from one side of your jaw to the other, and from ear to ear. These measurements will help you to discover what face shape you have.

Once you know your face shape, you can choose the types of sunglasses that suit best. Most retailers will label their sunglasses with the face shapes they are best suited to. You can also do a quick Google search to discover the best shades for your face shape.

Consider the Occasion

If you are buying sunglasses for a specific reason or occasion, then it is wise to think about whether you will be wearing formal or casual attire. The good news is that most designer and fashion shades are suited to a diverse range of clothing choices. With that said, novelty sunglasses might not be the best choice when attending the wedding of a friend or a formal event of any kind.

What Else to Think About

One thing to consider is that price does not equate to better protection. Discount sunglasses can be just as effective as expensive designer brands. You do not have to spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of sunglasses for them to provide effective eye protection. You just need to make sure that your new shades have a sticker that says either ‘UV400 protection’ or ‘100 percent UV protection’.

Another thing to think about is that while polarized sunglasses offer clearer vision by reducing glare from reflective surfaces, they do not automatically block UV light. Just because a pair of sunglasses is polarized does not mean it will provide the ultimate in protection. It is important to make sure that, above anything else, whatever pair you buy offers the maximum UV protection for your eyes.
