Wow! 2020 is finally here. A whole new DECADE.

Are you ready for what is in store for us?  I’m sure the 2020’s are set to amaze people in every possible way. It’s an ideal time of the year when people forget about what happened in the past year and how to make new beginnings.

It feels great to start out fresh with a brand new decade. Possibilities and opportunities are EVERYWHERE. New beginnings are all about seeking out new opportunities and genuinely opening ourselves to new adventures. It’s a fresh start that allows us to see the world and often ourselves in a new light.

A chance to work towards what we really want. They give us a chance to let go of the past, focus firmly on a bright future and commit to moving forward in leaps and bounds.

Fresh starts are a great time for reflection but more importantly for planning and goal setting. New beginnings are often scary, but like everything else in life, it all depends on how you choose to look at it.

Often plans are an essential part of improving yourself as this is where we start our goals and aspirations.

Planning helps you plot new beginnings

Change is the number one reason for new beginnings. People often fail to change because they fail to prepare (pretty catchy, isn’t it?). Having a plan allows you to be on a course towards success. However, before you succeed, you must have groundwork or plot for this to work.

Plans are not always concrete; there are so many variables in life and as they say, ship happens. When it does, be ready and willing to shift your plans. Planning is like an adventure; you have to set your own course and then allow for changes.

Here are some of the few examples of new years resolution or should I say “new beginnings” that will help guide everybody on the path of excellence (we’re keeping it pretty broad here to apply to everybody).

Get in shape. “Exercise more, stay fit and healthy”.  It is easy to start an exercise or diet program, but it is hard to find a one that will give you steady results and will be easy to stick in the long run.

It is the most perennial among all resolutions. Allow yourself to keep track of what exercides you have completed, and what you have eaten, and better yet have a support system in place for any times you feel weak.

Start eating healthy. This is somewhat related and connected to the first one. This is also difficult when junk foods surround us. Having the right amount of courage and determination, this can be turned into healthier eating habits. Learn to control and always remind yourself of the reason as to why you are following a diet. You may find that a simple, well-balanced and correctly proportioned eating plan can be your ticket to your weight loss journey, not the latest fad diet.

Learn how to become tidier. Slobs can be changed. A cluttered desk or chaotic home will negatively affect your productivity and even your mood. Learn how to de-clutter and clean your house. Lead a tidier and more organized life.

Being tidy is also related to becoming more organized. Being organized, you will be surprised that you have more spare time and things will start falling into places.

Minimalism is a new trend that is related to this. In the bedroom, time to get rid of any clothes you haven’t worn for months. Containerization in the closet to neatly organize all the clothes you keep is very helpful. And in the home office, changing your regular sitting desk to a motorized standing desk (that can go up or down with the push of a button) is both a way to introduce a sleek minimalist piece of office furniture to force tidiness, and also a way to introduce improved health (related to the previous two resolutions).

Start saving money and be debt free. The road to financial freedom is steep, but it is manageable if only you have self- discipline. Once you have finally have your debt under control then you can focus on saving and setting aside money.

Start being more responsible. Think before making decisions. It is essential to take responsibility for your actions, avoid blaming others. Gaining control over your feelings allows you to keep level-headed and think more rationally.

Learn how to express yourself. Expressing yourself in a creative way is an excellent form of stress relief and helps keep your mind sharp.

Turn your hobby into a career. Being able to make money by doing what we really want. More content and well-balanced. This may not be possible all the time, but there are cases that a hobby can be turned into a career.

Fears and insecurities. You may be surprised to know that some people out there have interesting stories to tell but lack of confidence. Learn how to deal with it and be more confident when it comes to facing your true self. This will help build confidence along the way.

Get more sleep. A good night’s rest can do wonders for your mood and appearance. Sleep is more beneficial; to your health than you might not realize. A lack of sleep has a higher risk of obesity. So take a nap and don’t feel guilty about it.

Learn to be happier with your life. It takes practice and patience to learn how to find joy in the little things and not to let problems bring you down. Helping others is a great feeling, a noble gesture. It is an opportunity to meet new people and boost your self-confidence.

Stick to a good healthy habit. The last and most important point is make those positive changes permanent. Sticking to new habits needs a lot of hard work until they become a natural part of who you are as a person.
